We match brilliant Personal and Executive Assistants (our Sidekicks) with busy humans who need their time back. Then we stick around. Training, payments, support and keeping the relationship happy are on us, so you can focus on being great at the work.

Nope. An agency places you and waves goodbye. We stay in the middle for as long as you work together: weekly check-ins, backup when a client relationship gets tricky, and we handle every invoice. Less agency, more team that has your back.

We doubt it. AI can draft an email. It can’t take a client’s car in for a service, or own a problem until it’s properly solved. We train every Sidekick to use AI well, to make you better and faster, not replaceable.

It helps. PA or EA experience and a relevant qualification will strengthen your application, but neither is essential. Some of our best Sidekicks had neither when they started. What matters most is judgement, follow-through and care.

A timed taste of the real job, based on situations our Sidekicks have actually handled. We’re looking at how you solve problems, how closely you pay attention, and how creative you get.

It helps us understand how you like to work and who you are. It’s not pass-or-fail, and it’s not an exact science. It’s just a nice way to get to know you.

Mostly up to your notice period. We move fast. Once references, Academy and your profile are done, you’ll often meet clients within a week or two.

Think of it as your Sidekick bootcamp, minus the push-ups. In about 8 to 10 hours (at your own pace), you’ll learn the tools we use and our secret sauce for happy clients: crystal-clear task managers, weekly status updates, and weekly sessions with agendas so good your clients will look forward to them. You’ll finish ready to take on your first client with confidence.

It depends on your experience and your clients’ needs. Here’s what Sidekicks earn, and how pay works.

By the 28th of every month. Clients are on monthly retainers, so your income is predictable. Revolutionary, we know.

Sidekicks keep roughly 70% of every monthly payment, and you can see what that looks like for you on our earnings card. 30% of the clients’ fees are retained by Sidekick (Pty) Ltd. We’ve invested millions of rands into the systems and people that handle sales, client matching, contracting, invoicing, billing, customer support, Sidekick Academy, customer success and most importantly, continuous support for you.

Never. That’s our job, and honestly, we’re a bit too good at it.

We’re looking for Sidekicks who can work 40 hours a week. The minimum is 30 hours of availability. If you can’t commit to at least 30 hours a week, this probably isn’t the right fit for now.

Often, yes. Plenty of our Sidekicks do the school run and make up their hours before and after. As long as your clients are well looked after and your hours add up, you have room to shape your day.

Not necessarily. “Full-time” means a full week of work, which could be 40 hours across a few clients (independent contractor).

We match you with a few clients whose hours add up to your week. For example, four clients at 10 hours each gives you 40 hours. More variety, more busy humans to help, and you’re never relying on just one person.

Usually, yes. In rare cases a Sidekick starts on fewer hours, and we build up towards 40 together as new clients come on board.

It’s rare, but it happens. Clients have to give one month’s notice, and we use that month to match you with a new client so your hours stay steady.

Most Sidekicks (about 90%) are independent contractors. Some clients need a dedicated full-time PA or EA, so Sidekick employs you and you work with that one client. Here’s how they compare.

Depends on the client. There are three flavours:

• Hybrid: mostly remote, plus in-person bits like office days or taking the car for a service.
• In-office: at the client’s office every day.
• Fully remote: for clients in rural Eastern Cape, London, New York and beyond.

In-person roles are in Cape Town, Joburg, Durban, Pretoria, Gqeberha, and a growing list of other cities.

Most Sidekicks land their first client within a week of finishing Academy, and fill their hours within a month.

If you’re an employee, we do: we handle your UIF and SARS deductions. If you’re an independent contractor, your tax is yours to handle, but you’re not on your own. We’ll introduce you to our favourite tax guy.

Getting to know a new client fast: who they are, how they work, which tools they live in, and what they expect. Building that rapport takes real effort. Great Sidekicks do their homework first, and they know we’re right there when they need backup.
